Are you interested to write for us? Here’s what we’re looking for.
What we publish
We welcome submissions by writers who love asking questions and engaging with topics of faith, culture, and creativity. We publish essays that combine personal narrative with societal and theological reflections, profiles of Christian creatives in Canada, poetry that explores the Christian experience, and reviews of music albums, books, films, podcasts, or YouTube channels that can inform and enrich the faith of our readers. We also accept photography and art submissions.
Each issue has an overarching theme that informs many of the pieces. You can find the themes for our three 2024 issues, along with submission deadlines, here. However, if you have another idea that you’re itching to submit, don’t hesitate to send it to us. We accept non-theme related pitches or submissions at any time.
How to pitch
You can pitch your ideas to info@loveismoving.ca. Include a clear thesis statement and a brief explanation and/or support for that thesis. Your email subject line should be a one-sentence summary of what the article is about. Please keep pitches brief and write in your own natural style. We want your genuine voice and honest, thoughtful perspective.
If you already have a completed article, poem, essay, etc. you can also submit it for consideration, but please still include a brief explanation of the submission in the body of your email.
Tips for creating a great pitch
- One to three sentences describing your article thesis.
- Explain why your idea is relevant to Canadian Christian young adults.
- Briefly describe your past writing experience and why you’re qualified to write about the topic.
- Include one or two samples of your previous work (e.g. a link to a photography portfolio or a past article, poem, etc.)
