Written by J.M. Bergman
Before time began,
you were alive in Christ’s mind,
and one day He will take you
to your eternal garden home.
Everything you did while planted here will pass away.
If your earthly identity was placed
in a temporary role,
who will you be then?
Your job, title, and relationship status
are only a greenhouse of annual flowers,
whether you build on stone or sand.
Rather, your eternal identity is to nurture other seeds,
producing a harvest of love, joy, peace and patience.
One with Christ, your fruit will bloom forever.
What is the meaning of forever?
It is believing God will renew our strength,
even when the nights seem long.
He has planned a place of lasting peace,
and promises that all nights end
with the dawn.
The storms will come and may damage
your growth, but the darkness will never last.
The perspective you choose to sustain your hope
has to be either eternity or the present;
the two contradict each other,
so you cannot trust in both.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
