If she came to our church
With her husbands, children and all
Would they fit our molds,
Would they clash with our plans?

Dress codes found, habits carried
With her husbands, children and all
Would their acts abuse our peace,
Would “saved from sin” do for us?

Rejection, pain, censure has been their lot
Acceptance, healing, approval their quest.
Would this be easy or would we recoil?
Would His forgiveness be found in us all?

Could we rally to this cause,
Set aside our sense of right?
Would we squeeze them to the side,
Or reach with care as we were found?

Would “all things new” be seen by us
As part of the present, not seeing the past?
How beautiful the repentant seem to be
To our Father who found us in our own sin.
